Calfurry wouldn't be possible without the help of our community's volunteers. Want to help make Calfurry a safe and successful event? Consider volunteering with us, even if it's just for a few hours. What’s the difference between “Volunteers” and “Staff”?

Volunteers are generally those who are assigned duties and responsibilities that are not dedicated to one area or department. It will be determined what a Volunteer would be doing on an as needed basis which could include badge checks/door duty, crowd control, equipment distribution & set up/tear down and/or Fursuit Lounge maintenance among other duties. Volunteers report to their dispatcher and then to the Staff member they are assigned to by that dispatcher. Volunteers may expect to be given shifts of two or more hours depending on their availability and how many hours they indicate they wish to be available for.

Staff of Calfurry are assigned specific roles and responsibilities in the organization. They are responsible for planning and executing projects for Calfurry and will be required to attend Staff meetings throughout the year. They may be required to act on behalf of Calfurry in certain circumstances and have general authority over their areas of responsibility. Some Staff are project-based which means that they oversee a specific event from beginning to end, working with other Staff and departments within the organization to ensure success. Staff that are available to be on duty during Calfurry generally should expect to be on duty for 6 or more hours per day of the event plus some time prior and after Calfurry (for set up and tear down).

How do I apply to be a Volunteer?

Simply complete the form and someone from our Staff will be in touch with you within 7 to 10 days of your application. You should apply as a Volunteer if you would like to make Calfurry a success by lending a hand in whatever way you’re comfortable with and you don’t mind not having a specific responsibility for the event. This is a great way for those who have not been Staff for a Furry convention or who believe that they will have limited time at Calfurry to still help and to get a look at the operations of an event like ours.
